NEW ALBANY -

A candidate who finished third in the Democratic Party's mayoral primary in New Albany last year and another man have been charged with voter fraud.

The News and Tribune reports 52-year-old Paul Etheridge and 36-year-old Joshua Clemons were indicted by a Floyd County grand jury in southeastern Indiana, near Louisville. Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson says the two men were arrested Thursday afternoon. They were being held without bond at the Floyd County Jail

They are charged with solicitation for a fraudulent absentee ballot, forgery of official ballot endorsement and fraudulent delivery of a ballot. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison.

It was not yet known if they have hired attorneys.
