INDIANAPOLIS -

Metro police are seeking assistance from the public in locating a vehicle that was stolen from the scene of an assault in an Irvington neighborhood.

Police were called Monday afternoon to the 800 block of N. Shortridge Rd. to investigate a reported assault on a 60-year-old woman. Investigators found that the woman was suffering from several contusions and was bleeding.

Police say the victim was transported to Methodist Hospital where she remains in serious condition.

During the investigation, police learned that the victim's green 2002 Chevrolet Tracker SUV was stolen. Police say finding the vehicle might help them identify a suspect in the assault case.

The vehicle has Indiana license plate 220AXO.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 317.262.TIPS (8477).  Callers can also text "INDYCS" plus tip information to 274627.
