INDIANAPOLIS -

Indianapolis Metro Police have arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with an alleged rape involving a 15-year-old girl.

A 15-year-old girl told officers she was raped early in the morning of September 8 at a residence on South Audubon Road in Irvington. The teen told officers she was raped by a black male, whom she did not recognize.

Police released a composite sketch and canvassed the neighborhood Tuesday. A tip by deputies from The Marion County Sex Offender Registry led detectives to Wilson.

Detectives say Wilson confessed to the rape. He was arrested and taken to the Arrestee Processing Center in Indianapolis.

Police say reports of three recent rapes in the same area are not true.

An IMPD spokesperson explained that a 60-year-old woman was beaten and robbed on North Shortridge Road, but was not raped.

Another incident stemmed from a domestic dispute and, while police say there may have been some type of sexual assault in that case, a rape did not necessarily take place.

Investigators say those crime reports do not appear to be related to the reported rape.
