Indiana cornerback Michael Hunter has been looking for a speedy recovery from his sports hernia.
He may have found the solution in Germany.
Coach Kevin Wilson says a German specialist performed surgery on the sophomore last Thursday. Indiana is hoping Hunter is back on the field in 10 to 14 days. Traditionally, that kind of injury keeps players out six to eight weeks.
Wilson did not provide details about what makes this surgery different but says Hunter has already started running.
Hunter had 13 tackles and made three starts in 2011. He has zero tackles this season.
Wilson also says freshman receiver Ricky Jones will miss the rest of this season with a broken ankle and sophomore Jake Reed has returned to practice after contracting MRSA in his hand.
