Revenge cited for shooting of Fort Wayne ambulance

Posted: Updated:
FORT WAYNE -

The man believed to have driven the car from which numerous shots were fired at a Fort Wayne ambulance says the gunman was seeking revenge against a stabbing victim it was carrying.

Authorities say the ambulance was hit by at least 18 bullets during the early Sunday shootings. A paramedic suffered arm wounds and three people in another car were also shot.

Prosecutors filed four felony charges Monday against 24-year-old Traneilous Jackson for the shootings.

The Journal Gazette reports that a man with Jackson told police he was forced to drive after the ambulance following the stabbing at a nightclub. He told police Jackson wanted to avenge his brother, who he claimed had been stabbed by the wounded man.

Court records don't yet show an attorney for Jackson.
