Indiana police dogs to be featured in reality show

DENVER -

Police dogs from three Indiana departments and the facility where they train will star in a new National Geographic reality television show.

The Kokomo Tribune reports Vohne Liche Kennels is featured in the series titled "Alpha Dogs" that will begin airing in January on the Nat Geo Wild cable channel.

Kennel owner Ken Licklider says the series examines how dogs are trained to detect drugs, weapons and explosive devices. Police dogs and their handlers from Kokomo, Peru and Logansport will be featured.

Producer Ari Hyman says the show will examine the handlers' lives as they train and live with their dogs.

The website for Vohne Liche Kennels says it has trained police and military service dogs for more than 5,000 law enforcement and government agencies.
