Romney running mate Ryan to stop in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS -

Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan will be in Indianapolis later this month seeking support from Hoosiers.

Indiana Republican Party spokesman Pete Seat said Ryan will headline a fundraiser at the J.W. Marriott in downtown Indianapolis on Sept. 17.

Ryan's trip marks the latest in a string of fundraising stops in Indiana by the Republican ticket. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney stopped in Evansville last month and Lake County in July raising money for his campaign.

Indiana has a strong network of Republican fundraisers which has flexed its muscle for Romney. President Barack Obama became the first Democrat in 44 years to win Indiana with his 2008 victory. But his presence in the state has been almost non-existent this year as expectations of a Romney victory have grown.
