GOSHEN -

A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to 90 years in prison for a shooting near the downtown of a northern Indiana city that killed one man and injured another.

An Elkhart County judge ordered the sentence for Daniel Heflin of Goshen. The Elkhart Truth reports  Heflin apologized during Thursday's court hearing for the March shooting that killed 26-year-old John Staub.

Heflin pleaded guilty last month to charges of murder and attempted murder.

Goshen police said Heflin fired at a pickup truck in the shooting that resulted from an earlier dispute between the man who was wounded and 25-year-old William Terry in the city about 25 miles southeast of South Bend.

Terry has been sentenced on a conspiracy to commit murder charge. Two others have been sentenced on lesser charges.
