CARMEL -

The threat of severe weather Friday means earlier tee times for the BMW Golf Championship at Crooked Stick. Tournament organizers moved up those tee times in hopes of completing the second round before any severe weather breaks.

In addition to bringing an umbrella to the course, spectators need to prepare for big crowds and heavy traffic.

The tournament is a big draw for golf fans, and for Indiana, when you consider the level of players in this tourney, including PGA stars Tiger Woods and Roy McIlroy, and Indiana native Bo Van Pelt among the leaders after the first round.

For the second round, gates will open to spectators at 7 a.m.  The first group tees off at 8 a.m.

Golf traffic, which challenged Carmel streets Thursday, may be even more congested Friday as fans will be competing with rush hour traffic. If no rain delays play, the last group should wrap up about 3 p.m., affecting rush hour traffic once again.
