DNC beats NFL in TV ratings

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

Not only did the DNC beat the RNC in TV ratings - it also outscored the NFL.

The second night of the Democratic National Convention drew more viewers to the tube than the second night of last week's Republican convention.

Nielsen estimates that just over 25 million watched the convention between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Wednesday, when former President Bill Clinton spoke. That out drew the 20 million people watching the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys open the NFL season.

The second night of the GOP convention in Tampa last week drew just under 22 million.
