Carmel Police are warning golf fans to drive carefully after an officer was struck while directing traffic Wednesday. The man who hit the officer was arrested for drunk driving.

Officer Cody Barlow was directing traffic at 116th St. and Hoover Rd. to deal with the overflow from the BMW Championship at Crooked Stick Golf Course. There were three officers directing traffic at that intersection. As Barlow stepped into the roadway to stop westbound traffic, a red 2004 Saturn Vue struck him.

The impact caused Officer Barlow to strike the hood, windshield and side view mirror of the Vue. He was taken to St. Vincent Hospital where he was treated and released.

Police arrested the driver of the Saturn. Keith Foster, 57, of Zionsville, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, OWI causing serious bodily injury and criminal recklessness with a vehicle. He was taken to the Hamilton County Jail on $10,000 bond.
