ANDERSON -

Authorities say DNA tests prove a body found in a cornfield's tree line is that of a central Indiana man missing since authorities say he killed his ex-girlfriend's daughter in June.

Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson tells The Herald Bulletin the corpse found last month by three hunters in a rural area between Lapel and Anderson was that of 53-year-old Roy Parmley.

Police had been searching for the Lapel resident since the June 9 shooting. Police say he shot 31-year-old Amanda Wiles in the head with a shotgun after breaking into the home she shared with her mother days after the older woman ended a relationship with Parmley.

A second woman at the home was wounded. Parmley allegedly threatened to kill himself after the shooting.
