Thousands headed to BMW Championship in Carmel

CARMEL -

Thousands are expected to head to the golf course Thursday, hoping to catch a glimpse of the biggest names in the sport. Tournament play begins Thursday for the BMW Championship at Crooked Stick in Carmel.

If you and your family want to get in on the action, there are some tricks to getting the best vantage point. The 16th hole is traditionally a good place to watch. You can find a place to camp out and wait for the golfers to pass by. If you don't have the patience for that, another strategy is to move around with a favorite player.

Or you can head to the driving range before the tournament begins, like golf fan Kathleen McGrath.

"The driving range is perfect because you can be on the driving range and they're out there warming up and watching and you get to see everyone's swing and how they practice and you think, 'I should be practicing that way'."

Today spectators are hoping for sunshine, after yesterday's Pro-Am was delayed due to thunderstorms, and Monday's celebrity events were washed out.

If you're interested in attending, tickets are still available for $75. You can get yours by clicking here.
