Colts eager to see how Luck performs in NFL debut

Posted: Updated:
INDIANAPOLIS -

Andrew Luck is eager and anxious as his NFL debut approaches.

So are his Indianapolis Colts teammates and coaches.

The No. 1 overall draft pick acknowledges there will be some butterflies the night before he faces the Chicago Bears in Sunday's season opener - and with good reason. He'll have to contend with one of the league's top defenses and perhaps one of the league's top defenders if linebacker Brian Urlacher plays, as promised.

But the rookie quarterback says he's more concerned with winning games than getting autographs.

He has spent 6½ weeks getting a crash course in running an NFL offense, reading NFL defenses and calling out changes in protection. Now he's getting a chance to prove he's the most NFL-ready rookie quarterback since Peyton Manning in 1998.
