The Indianapolis Colts shared some life lessons with some of their youngest fans today. Whether you are the face of the franchise or an unfamiliar face, the Colts uniform represents an opportunity to make a difference beyond football.

"I feel this is a great opportunity for us as players and role models," said defensive end Fili Moala after reading books to children to IPS children as part of the "Community Tuesdays" program. "I have two children of my own and it's just a good opportunity for me to get out here and give them a good example of what hard work can do and the importance and learning the importance of reading."

Many of the players remember what it was like when they were children and someone important encouraged them.

"I remember all types of volunteers coming in helping us. Whether it was a book or whether it was to read a book to us. Or whether it was to tell us a story. All of that left an impression on me as a child. That's why I'm here today," said Moala.

Rookie quarterback Andrew Luck urged kids at the Eastside Legacy Center that it is important to eat right and stay active.

"Any chance you have to positively influence someone's life, today encouraged kids to stay active. It's something I take seriously. Hope to have a good impact on the community," said Luck who also promoted NFL PLAY 60 Super Bowl Contest presented by Quaker. "It's encouraging kids to eat right and stay active and get out and play and it's a chance to see the Super Bowl in New Orleans."

Other Colts, like TE Dwayne Allen, OG Seth Olsen, LS Matt Overton, LB Jarrell Freeman, LB Justin Hickman, DT Drake Nevis, TE Dominique Jones and C A.Q. Shipley spent their off-day visiting schools in Central Indiana to promote literacy.

"Just reading in school and out of school, it doesn't matter what you're reading as long as you continue reading," said tackle Jeff Linkenbach. "It's a cool thing to read."

They're habits encouraged at a young age by men who know that wearing the uniform means something more than just football.

"This is more than getting out in the community and showing face. I feel like I'm out here really making a difference," said Moala.

"It makes my day coming out here and seeing children faces smiling and happy to see you," Linkenbach told the students.
