A Lafayette woman died in a two-car crash early Tuesday on U.S. 52 south of Lafayette.  According to Sheriff Tracy Brown, Kailee Thayer-Alrich, 20, pulled off C.R. 450 East into the path of an SUV traveling southbound on US HWY 52.

The SUV, driven by Brian Smith, 27, also of Lafayette, struck the car of Thayer-Alrich just after 2:00 a.m. She was taken to IU Arnett Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.  Smith did not sustain any injuries from the crash.

The crash remains under investigation, but alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
