REELSVILLE -
Police are investigating the shooting deaths of a father and son found in their Putnam County home.
Officers found the bodies of 40-year-old Kevin Boatright and his 14-year-old son Jeremy inside the home on W. CR 450 South in Reelsville. 911 dispatchers received a call from a family member who discovered the bodies around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
State police had started an investigation of Kevin Boatright by speaking with him about an allegation that he had contributed to the delinquency of two female juveniles. Officers did not obtain enough information to result in an immediate arrest from that conversation.
Preliminary investigation shows Kevin Boatright died of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, while his son died of an apparent gunshot wound. Autopsies will be conducted Tuesday in Terre Haute.
The investigation is ongoing by state and local authorities.
