Man, 22, dies in east Indianapolis shooting

INDIANAPOLIS -

Police are searching for a suspect in a shooting that left one man dead on the east side Wednesday.

Officers responded to the shooting in the 5400 block of East 17th Street around 6 p.m. When they arrived, they found a 22-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound in the passenger side of a vehicle.

Medics arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of family members.

Investigators may have located a crime scene at a nearby apartment complex, where they believe the shooting occurred. Police are interviewing the driver of the vehicle to learn more about what happened.
