IU asks football fans to arrive early to avoid traffic

Posted: Updated:
BLOOMINGTON -

Indiana University administrators are urging fans to arrive at football games this season as early as possible and to use alternative traffic routes to avoid game-day congestion.

School officials warn that construction on several major thoroughfares in Bloomington could cause significant delays.

They've posted maps of alternative routes to reach Memorial Stadium on the athletic department's web site. The maps include diagrams of roads around Memorial Stadium that will be designated one-way streets on Saturdays.

Construction has caused consternation for fans traveling to and from Indiana football games for the past several years.

Fans can also purchase parking permits in advance through the Indiana athletics ticket office.

Game day updates on traffic can be found on Twitter at @IUBPublicSafety.
