INDIANAPOLIS -

Three vacant house fires on Rookwood, just south of 42nd Street, kept Indianapolis firefighters busy for several hours early Monday morning.

The first call came out at 11:20 Sunday night in the 4100 block of Rookwood.  The fire spread to houses on either side, exacting heavy damage.

All three homes were vacant or unoccupied.  No civilians were injured.

One firefighter suffered an ankle injury and left in an ambulance for IU Health-Methodist Hospital. Two other firefighters were treated at the scene for cuts and bleeding.

Damage to the three houses is estimated at $120,000.

The cause is under investigation.
