Indiana residents keep wary eye on toll agency makeup

Posted: Updated:
JEFFERSONVILLE -

Indiana residents who could pay the bulk of new tolls on Ohio River bridges leading to Kentucky say they want a voice on the agency that will set those rates.

The makeup of the group that will assess tolls on the Kennedy Bridge and two other spans won't be known until Indiana and Kentucky officials agree on a toll policy. But none of the 15 members of the two groups that will have seats on the panel are from southern Indiana, and only 3 are from the Louisville, Ky., area.

Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore tells the Courier-Journal the panel should represent the area so it understands what the local economy can bear.

The tolls are expected to generate more than $10 billion over four decades.
