Posted: Updated:
HAMILTON COUNTY -

A woman was injured after police say she rear-ended a Hamilton Heights school bus Wednesday afternoon. It happened at State Road 37 and Cornell (near 246th Street).

The crash occurred as the bus accelerated after a stop. Ten students who were on the bus at the time of the crash were not injured. They were checked out at the scene by medics.

The driver was taken to a local hospital to be treated for aches and bruises. Her car was badly damaged.

Parents were notified of the crash immediately and they were given the option of picking up their child at the scene or having another bus take them home. Six students were placed on another bus and taken home; four others were picked up by parents at the scene.

Although the bus involved in the crash was driveable, the students were transferred to a new bus per school transportation policy.
