ASHLEY -

Authorities in northeastern Indiana say a motorcyclist was found after he crashed while fleeing from a police officer.

The Ashley Police Department says an officer tried to stop the motorcyclist about 1 a.m. Wednesday for a traffic infraction when he drove away at a high speed from the town onto a county road.

The Herald Republican and WANE-TV report the officer lost sight of the motorcycle but found it crashed off the rural road and the man on the other side of the road a few miles from the town.

The Steuben County coroner pronounced 34-year-old Howard Squier of rural Hudson dead at the scene about 30 miles north of Fort Wayne.
