INDIANAPOLIS -

Indianapolis Metro Police say they've found a second body at the same location where human remains were discovered on the city's east side Wednesday morning.

Detectives say the remains found in the 2800 block of North Gladstone Ave. belong to a man who suffered head trauma. He has not been positively identified yet.

As the remains of the man were being removed, detectives say they found another body. They have not released any information about the age, gender or race. The Marion County coroner will conduct an autopsy.

The remains were found in a wooded area just behind an alley in a neighborhood where many homes are unoccupied.

Police say shortly after midnight Tuesday, officers were called to the 2800 block of North Gladstone Avenue. Callers told police they discovered the grave while looking for their dog that had broken loose.

Justin Blakely, who made the discovery, has no doubt the remains are those of an older male, based on clothing.  He also said he and his cousin found several hundred dollars near the grave.

"It looks like he's been placed in there. I mean, there's still dirt up on the tree to where it looks like the hole's been dug," Blakely told Eyewitness News. "But you can tell he's been there for an awful long time."

Metro Police officers cordoned off the wooded area near 29th and Gladstone. The woods sit behind some homes, near railroad tracks just north of Massachusetts Avenue.

Blakely and his cousin made the discovery of the two-foot-deep grave when they chased a dog that had gotten loose.

"We thought he ran into the woods because we heard him barking," Blakely said. "But then we found it. Just came across it and came back and got on the phone."

"I'm just happy to maybe bring closure to somebody's family," Blakely said.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call, anonymously, Crime Stoppers at 317.262.TIPS (8477).

Callers may also text "INDYCS" plus tip information to 274627.
