Early morning fire damages vacant home

INDIANAPOLIS -

Indianapolis fire crews were called to a house fire early Tuesday morning.

The vacant two-story home was in the 400 block of west 28th street. The fire broke out around 2:35 Tuesday morning.  When crews arrived they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure.

17 units were called to fight the fire. Crews also battled live power lines on the east side of the residence.  Fire crews were able to get the fire under control within 45 minutes.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Damage is estimated to be nearly $70,000.
