INDIANAPOLIS -

Indianapolis Metro Police say three carjackings that occurred early Thursday morning appear to be linked. They have one suspect in custody but are searching for two others who they say stole vehicles at gunpoint.

The first call came in around 3:36 am from the 1200 block of Martin Road on the south side of Indianapolis. The victim was out delivering newspapers when, according to police, a white Honda pulled up and three people armed with black hand guns stepped out of the vehicle. They stole the victim's PT Cruiser.

Later in the morning, another carjacking report came in from the 3300 block of Congress St. on the west side. Officers say the blue PT Cruiser bumped an Impala, and three suspects matching the description from the original carjacking took the Impala while armed with black hand guns.

Twenty minutes later, two more cars were reported carjacked in the area of 5700 Carrollton by three suspects matching the same description as the previous incidents. A Cadillac SUV and an Audi were taken from 5700 Carrollton.

An officer spotted the Audi that was reported stolen from Carrollton. After a chase, the suspect crashed the Audi near Fairfield and College, knocking over a fire hydrant. A little while later, a different officer tried to stop the Impala carjacked on Congress, but the suspect refused to stop. A chase ended in a crash and the arrest of the suspect.

Three of the four involved cars have been recovered but police say the blue PT Cruiser is still missing. One of the three armed suspects has been taken into police custody. No injuries have been reported in association with any of these cases.

Anyone with information about these cases is asked to contact IMPD Robbery or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS(8477)or also text "INDYCS" plus tip information to 274627 (CRIMES).
