Zionsville Police say two people are dead after a car crash and fire early Thursday morning.

This happened around 5:30 a.m. along U.S. 421, near Greenfield Road, north of 116th Street.  When fire crews arrived, the car was fully engulfed in flames and one of the firefighters reported seeing two people inside the car.

Zionsville Police say a speeding car was traveling on U.S. 421 when it left the roadway, hit a pole and burst into flames.

Right now, traffic is getting through in both directions on U.S. 421.  Police are using the southbound lanes of U.S. 421 to get traffic through, while northbound U.S. 421 is expected to be shut down until 8:00 a.m.
