NOBLESVILLE -
The first day of school in Noblesville brought some changes for students.
A new elementary school on Promise Road opened its doors Wednesday. Also, the district phased out intermediate schools" for fifth and sixth graders.
Sixth graders will now go to middle schools, while fifth graders will stay in elementary schools.
"Bringing the elementary schools together, I think, is unique. Redistricting is always new and causes a little anxiety with students and families," said Kelly Treinen, Promise Road Elementary School.
The district says things are going well so far.
The changes and new school are part of a 2010 referendum which also includes building additions and upgrades.
