MARTINSVILLE -
Two Martinsville coaches must give up their teaching licenses and register as sex offenders.
Jeffrey McGown, 38, and Timothy Wolf, 66, were sentenced for child seduction. Both coaches were accused of an improper relationship with the same student.
McGown coached tennis at Martinsville High School. Wolf was the boys' basketball coach.
The two men were sentenced to nine years in prison, but the judge suspended that sentence. Now both coaches are on probation.
Police say Wolf was found partially naked in his car with a 17-year-old girl in Eagle Creek Park earlier this year. When state police looked deeper into the Wolf case, they found out from Martinsville school administrators that the young woman in the car was a former student at the high school.
They also learned about rumors involving the same young woman and the girls' high school tennis coach, Jeffrey McGown.
Special Prosecutor Doug Cummins said both of the men had an inappropriate relationship - including sexual activity - with the teenager between January 2011 and February 2012. Wolf and McGown were arrested and charged in May. Wolf resigned in February. McGown was suspended in April.
The age of consent in Indiana is 16, but prosecutors said they brought the charges because both men were in positions of authority.
