NOBLESVILLE -

A Noblesville man has taken to Facebook to update family members and others about his daughter's progress after her husband allegedly set her on fire.

Megan Lawrence-Kimbrough's father says he suspected domestic abuse, but had no idea it was so bad.

"She is fighting. It's a battle for her," said Ted Lawhorn.

Social media is helping Lawhorn cope with the unthinkable. His 26-year-old daughter was set on fire, allegedly by her husband. She's recovering at a hospital in Florida, the state she'd called home since moving from Noblesville last year.

"Eighty percent of her body is burnt. She is still in critical condition. She is on a Servo respiratory machine," Lawhorn said.

According to police, on August 3, as Megan sat in a chair inside her Lakeland, Florida home, her husband doused her with flammable liquid and set her on fire. Josh Kimbrough allegedly even called a friend to see if he wanted to come over and watch her burn.

While Megan fights for her life, her father turned to social media and the "Pray For Megan" Facebook page for support.

"Cleaned her arms back up and put donor skin on her arms to close it to pretty much keep the infection out," Lawhorn said.

Lawhorn originally set up the Facebook page to keep family posted on her condition. But the case has gotten the attention of not only people across the United States, but Canada, too.

"Perfect strangers to reach out and say, 'We are praying for her'," Lawhorn said.

Facebook also helps him keep connected with his grandsons - Megan's two boys. Adding two children to a violent mix, Megan's Facebook fans say, makes this all the more heartbreaking.

Megan's recovery will take months before she is able to return to Noblesville. Her father says the Facebook page grew from about 200 people to more than 1,000 in about a week's time.
