Billboard put up by tea party sparks protest

ELKHART -

Some northern Indiana residents are upset about a billboard message paid for by a tea party group that reads: "The Navy SEALs removed one threat to America... The voters must remove the other."

The Elkhart Truth reports about 25 people held a protest Monday at the billboard in Elkhart, some of them calling the message offensive. They say it is inappropriate to equate President Barack Obama with Osama Bin Laden.

The billboard was paid for by tea party group We the People of Marshall and Fulton counties. The group's president, Don Nunemaker of Plymouth, told The Associated Press on Tuesday he knew the billboard would upset some. He says the goal was to get people's attention and to encourage people to vote Obama out on Nov. 6.
