Energy a focus of Tuesday's campaigning

Posted: Updated:
OSKALOOSA, Iowa -

Energy is the focus as both halves of the Democratic and Republican tickets campaign today in some key states.

President Barack Obama, on the second day of a bus trip through Iowa, is expected to call on Congress to extend expiring tax cuts for wind energy production. The Energy Department released a report today saying estimating 75,000 jobs depend on wind power, including 7,000 in Iowa. The White House warns uncertainty over extending the wind energy tax credits could "dramatically slow" the industry.

Mitt Romney's campaign says the Republican will address what he's calling a "war on coal" waged by the White House. Romney will be in a coal-producing region of Ohio.

Paul Ryan plans to promote Romney's "all-of-the-above" energy approach on a stop in Colorado.

Ryan also plans to visit Nevada, while Vice President Joe Biden campaigns in rural southern Virginia.
