INDIANAPOLIS -
Lost and found items from the Indianapolis International Airport are up for auction Tuesday.
Those lost items not claimed over several months as well as industrial equipment will go to the highest bidder. Many of the industrial items come from the old terminal and cannot be used in the new terminal.
Michael Medvescek, Director of Operations for the Indianapolis International Airport, told Eyewitness News that the items were collected over a three-year period.
"We have equipment, vehicles maintenance vehicles, and snow equipment," Medvescek said. "We have the Indy maintenance center, special tools, catwalks, anything construction related or industrial related can be purchased at the airport."
Buyers from all over the world have expressed an interest in some of the items up for auction. Many of those interested buyers come from airports from all around the state.
While the lost and found items are expected to draw some interest, many of the most sought after items include shuttle buses and a fire truck.
The auction starts at 8 a.m. in several locations at the old terminal, but interested buyers can also bid online. Everything sold at the auction goes back into the airport's general fund, which pays for operating expenses and maintenance.
