Longtime Redkey concert venue up for sale

REDKEY -

The owners of a longtime concert venue in eastern Indiana have closed its doors and put the business up for sale.

Charlie Noble opened the Key Palace Theatre in 1986 in a converted movie theater in the Jay County town of Redkey. It landed on lists for best blues clubs in the country, bringing in acts from Chicago, Mississippi and New York.

Regina Williamson tells The Star Press that the family tried to keep the venue going after her brother's death in 2010 but can no longer afford it as attendance has declined. The Key Palace's last concert was in May.

Williamson says she would love for a new owner to keep bringing concerts to the town about 20 miles northeast of Muncie.
