LINTON -

An Indiana man wanted for questioning in a tire-slashing incident held police at bay for hours with his three children in his home before releasing them.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Curt Durnil said Friday afternoon that the man had been taken into custody.

The standoff began shortly before 3:30 a.m. Friday when police went to a home in Linton after an altercation between two men. Police say one child left the house around 6 a.m. to take police a two-way radio, and the other two were allowed to leave around 11 a.m.

Durnil told the Greene County Daily World that police heard shots fired inside the residence about 7 a.m.

Durnil says the man is believed to have moved to Linton recently from Sparta, Wis.
