INDIANAPOLIS -

Gov. Mitch Daniels is starting his "last roundup" at the Statehouse with a request that more motorcyclists seek training before hitting the road.

Daniels noted there has been a slight uptick in motorcycle accidents in the past year. He attributed that to self-trained motorcyclists and said "nobody should be jumping on a bike without having somebody teach them first."

Daniels headed out with members of the biking group ABATE of Indiana Friday morning on his final ride as governor. ABATE promotes motorcycle safety and also trains riders.

Daniels is term-limited from seeking re-election in November.

Daniels thanked riders for their donations to Indiana's National Guard. Indiana Adjutant General Martin Umbarger said the annual rides have raised roughly $30,000 for National Guard families.
