INDIANAPOLIS -

Firefighters were called to a home on North Denny Street to put out a fire Thursday afternoon. It's the same location where a 13-year-old boy was shot earlier this week.

Indianapolis Metro Police arrested Glenn Beard, 56, Wednesday night in connection with the shooting of Jarrell Tucker. Tucker died at Riley Hospital Monday afternoon after being shot twice.

Authorities at the scene of Thursday's fire confirmed to Eyewitness News that it was the home where Beard was living. They are investigating the case as arson, but did not have enough information to say whether or not they considered it a retaliation crime in connection with Jarrell Tucker's shooting death.

The shooting happened on North Denny Street on the east side of Indianapolis Sunday night. Initial reports from police were that they questioned Beard about the shooting, who told them he shot Tucker in self-defense. Later, police told Eyewitness News they never spoke with Beard and that he was only wanted as a person of interest in the shooting, not necessarily as a suspect.

Now Beard is in police custody and is facing a murder charge, as well as a charge of possession of a firearm by a violent felon.

An estimate of the damage that the fire caused to the home was not immediately available.
