INDIANAPOLIS -

A Franklin Township teacher has been placed on administrative leave after his arrest on solicitation charges.

The superintendent of the Franklin Township Community School Corporation sent a message to parents Tuesday, notifying them of the action taken against Bob Roach, a teacher at Middle School East in the district.

Roach was arrested for the online solicitation of a 15-year-old girl in Wisconsin, who turned out to be an undercover police officer. Police records obtained by Eyewitness News show he is charged with seven felonies. The alleged solicitation started in May, with the last offense occurring just a few days ago.

Superintendent Dr. Flora Reichanadter says there is no evidence Roach's behavior involves students in the Franklin Township school district.

"We are cooperating fully with this investigation and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. At this time, the school district has no further information," Superintendent Dr. Flora Reichanadter wrote in the message to parents.

"We completely go with their decision. Whatever they say they are gonna do is best," said parent Amy Shikett.

Students past and present say Roach was the kind of teacher that left an impression. Rhonda Schmitt, a former student of Roach's, remembers his enthusiasm and off-beat style.

"He is an amazing teacher. I enjoyed having him and two of my children have also had him and absolutely adore him," she said.

"He is an amazing guy. He is very nice," said a student.

Jason Carter, who only met Roach once during parent-teacher conferences, sought Eyewitness News out to tell us his impression of the teacher.

"He was my son's favorite teacher," Carter said.

Roach taught generations of students during his career. The allegations are more than shocking to those that knew him.
