INDIANAPOLIS -

Two contract workers were injured early Tuesday in what fire crews described as an explosion at the IPL plant at 3700 South Harding.

IPL spokesperson Crystal Livers-Powers said the two men were taken to the hospital with injuries, but neither is assumed to be life-threatening.  Livers-Powers described one man's injuries as a broken arm, but had no other details.

The incident happened shortly after 1:20 a.m. in the area of the plant's coal pulverizers.  The plant burns coal to generate electricity.

Livers-Powers said no customers lost service due to the incident, which is still under investigation.
