Indiana leaders, GOP politicians greet pork producers

INDIANAPOLIS -

Indiana's elected leaders and would-be leaders are talking with Indiana's pork producers as the Indiana State Fair begins its 17-day run.

Gov. Mitch Daniels and Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman are scheduled to talk at the Indiana Pork Producers' annual ham breakfast Friday morning. Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Pence and Republican Senate candidate Richard Mourdock also plan to work the crowd as they look for support heading into November's elections.

Indiana's pig farmers have been hit hard by the ongoing drought. Pork Producers' Executive Director Michael Platt said last week that farmers were selling livestock at nearly twice the rate they did last year.
