INDIANAPOLIS -

The victim of a sexual assault 12 years ago says she had no idea the man convicted of the crime was back on the streets.

While the Department of Correction attempted to contact her, her contact information had changed, so she never got the notification.

The woman spoke to Eyewitness News about the attack, but asked not to be identified.

"He was beating me in the face," she said.

The woman just learned that 33-year-old Shawn Corbally, sentenced to 25 years in prison for raping her in 2000, got out early on good behavior and now stands accused of raping another woman.

"I didn't even know that he was out. I had not seen on the news what was going on," she said.

The victim met Corbally at The Gold Brick Tavern in east Indianapolis. She says after dancing and drinks, he attacked her during the ride home.

"He threw me out of the car naked and I had to run and knock on a stranger's door for help," the woman said.

Court documents from Corbally's 2000 rape convictions show a second victim says she left DJ Lounge on North Prospect Street with Corbally. Just like with the first victim, once she was alone in the car with him, he was no longer "Mr. Nice Guy."

"He went from nice to violent in a second. I was in a seat belt and he was beating me in the face with his fist. I could not even get out of the seat belt," the victim said.

Corbally pleaded guilty to confinement and two rape charges. Although his victims say they knew nothing of his release. Prison officials say they sent alerts.

"(We) come across some disconnected phone numbers and possibly received some returned mail, as well," said Brent Myers, victim services director for the Department of Correction.

The DOC sends release notifications by email, text, telephone or letter. The alerts go out 60, 30 and five days before the inmate's release. Anyone can go online and sign up for a notification.

Now that Corbally faces new rape charges, the victim of his past crime says she'll be tracking his every move.

"If he ever gets out, he's going to kill somebody," she said.

Prison officials say you must have up-to-date information to get the inmate release alerts and anyone can sign up - not just victims.
