BLOOMINGTON -

Police in Bloomington are searching for a suspect in a murder last week.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Phillip M. Phillips of Bloomington in the shooting death of 27-year-old Ulysses "Lish" Goethe. Witnesses told police Phillips drove by Goethe and shot him once in the head early on July 25. Goethe died at the scene.

The victim's mother and stepfather told the Herald Times in Bloomington the two had been fighting over a girl and had gotten into fist fights over the woman. The newspaper also cited Phillips' "lengthy criminal record since 2006," including two misdemeanor battery convictions.

Phillips is described as a 6'1", 250 pound black male who was last known to live on Basswood Drive in Bloomington.

Anyone with information about Phillips' whereabouts should call 911 or Bloomington police.
