Teen killer's case could go to US Supreme Court

INDIANAPOLIS -

The lawyer for a southeastern Indiana teenager whom a prosecutor described as evil after he strangled his 10-year-old brother says she's considering asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review his sentence of life without parole.

Leanna Weissmann said Wednesday that was one of the options she was considering on behalf of 20-year-old Andrew Conley, whose sentence was upheld Tuesday by the Indiana Supreme Court.

Weissmann says her next step depends partly on a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling throwing out mandatory sentences of life in prison without parole for juveniles. Conley's sentence was decided by a judge.

Conley was 17 in November 2009 when he killed his brother, Conner, while wrestling in their home near Rising Sun. He pleaded guilty in September 2010..
