Funeral Wednesday for bystander killed in shootout

A small-town businessman fatally shot by a man who also wounded two police officers in a shootout outside his estranged wife's central Indiana home is being laid to rest.

Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday morning at Pendleton Christian Church for 48-year-old John Neal Shull Junior.

Shull was in the residential and commercial painting business. He was returning home in his pickup truck last Thursday night when he was fatally shot during a confrontation between 59-year-old Kenneth James Bailey of New Castle and his estranged wife.

An Pendleton and Anderson police officer were also wounded in the shootout and a police dog was killed. Bailey died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
