Storm hits SW Indiana, causes damage, outages

OAKLAND CITY -

A storm that rolled across southwestern Indiana has caused at least one injury and some property damage.

Gibson County Sheriff's Department dispatcher James Griswold says one person in the Oakland City area was hurt by falling hail.

He also says an undetermined number of homes have been evacuated because of a leak at a propane company in the Gibson County town about 25 miles northeast of Evansville.

The National Weather Service office in Paducah, Ky., says winds gusting as high as 80 mph blew down a barn in the Oakland City area and tossed part of a roof onto a highway.

Duke Energy said outages were affecting 1,200 customers in Gibson County, 1,000 in Pike County and 500 in Warrick County.
