Thousands of people have turned out to pay tribute to an Indiana National Guardsman killed in Afghanistan.

The body of Spc. Nicholas Taylor arrived Sunday afternoon at the 122nd Air National Guard Base in Fort Wayne. WPTA-TV reports thousands of motorcycles joined a police escort over a 30-mile route to a Berne funeral home.

Taylor's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at South Adams High School in Berne. Doors will open at 10 a.m. Viewing will be held at the school's gymnasium from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-8 p.m. Monday.

He and Spc. Sergio Eduardo Perez Jr. of Crown Point died in a July 16 attack in Kandahar province. They were members of a bomb-clearing unit from the Valparaiso-based 713th Engineer Company.
