Repairs on I-65 bridge at Louisville almost over

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE -

Crews are near the completion of repairs to one of Louisville's Ohio River bridges.

The state Department of Highways says all lanes and ramps at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge, which carries Interstate 65 between southern Indiana and Louisville, are scheduled to be open by Wednesday.

Workers are finishing repairs underneath the Kentucky approach to the bridge. After that's done, the ramp from eastbound I-64 to northbound I-65 can be reopened. That's expected to happen by 5 a.m. EDT Monday.

Meanwhile, paving of the Kentucky approach lanes on I-65 are continuing and a section of the median barrier wall that was removed to build a traffic cross-over is being replaced. Left lanes in both directions on the bridge will be closed until 5 a.m. Wednesday to complete that work.
