Indiana State Police say a former deputy county clerk in southern Indiana faces official misconduct and obstructing justice charges for not collecting more than $100,000 in traffic ticket fines.

Police said Thursday that former Crawford County Deputy Clerk Debra Montgomery also is charged with theft for not collecting and processing the fines while she was deputy clerk from 2002 until April 2011. It wasn't clear what her motive was.

The 56-year-old Taswell woman bonded out of jail after being arrested Tuesday.

Her home telephone number has been disconnected and she could not be reached for comment. It wasn't clear whether she has an attorney.

Crawford County borders the Ohio river about 40 miles west of Louisville, Ky.
