Bloomington Police are investigating an overnight homicide.
At around 2:19 am, Bloomington Police officers were called to the 1000 block of North Illinois to investigate a shooting. They found a black male in the street with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers are currently pursuing several leads in this case. No victim information is being released pending next of kin notification.
Police say there has been speculation that the shooting took place at the Section 8 housing office where applications were being accepted or as a result of an altercation that began there, but they say they don't have any credible information that leads investigators to believe that this is the case.
