Hollywood escapes blame for shooting so far

Posted: Updated:
LOS ANGELES -

So, why hasn't there been much of a backlash against Hollywood for violent movies in the aftermath of the shootings in Colorado at a screening of "The Dark Knight Rises?" It seems that people simply don't think the movie industry is responsible for what happened at the theater in Aurora this past Friday, despite the flood of films that depict all kinds of violence.

So far, the movie industry itself has been quick to take steps to insulate itself from blame. Warner Brothers, which did the "Dark Knight" films, pulled a trailer that features a scene in which gangsters shoot up a movie theater. But it's unclear what will happen with that scene when the movie finally makes it to theaters in September.
